MAHONIANS

The "Jolly Roger" surmounting the ship on the helm of the Mahone Bay official crest once signified "piracy, danger" and still indicates a "poison." It was in fact only used in this exact form by four pirates:  Edward England,  John Taylor, John Martel and Samuel Bellamy.  A heart was also found on some pirate flags as was the hourglass, also seen symbolized above.
